On 22nd December, 1914, the 1st King’s Royal Rifle Corps battalion of 6 Brigade, 2nd Division moved into the front line at La Bassée in northern France, with battalion HQ in Cuinchy. One rifleman was wounded during the relief, probably Walter Nicholson who died from wounds on the following day. |
